About

Hi, my name is Matthew Gordon and you’ve reached my blog.

I love cognition, both the practice and the study thereof. I enjoy dialogue with curious adventurers from all parts of the world, many of whom I met during my one year journey across the world and even more whom I have yet to meet at all.

I attended MIT where I earned a degree in Mathematics with Computer Science and I’m now back just down the road in Cambridge. I researched computational cognitive science with Joshua Tenenbaum at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and robotics with Cynthia Breazeal at the MIT Media Lab. I’ve written automation software for Apple at their headquarters in Cupertino, CA and created complex artificial intelligences that chatted with people all over the world at Virsona with my close friend James. Intrigued by the startup life, I signed on to architect the 3D CAD automation software that Difra Inc. plans to use for building houses. I spent some time freelancing and working on various other ideas for startups for a while and now I am working with the Center for Future Civic Media at the MIT Media Lab as a research software applications developer.

I enjoy collaboration so let me know if you ever have an idea for a project. I love to create sonic experimentations with Max/MSP or SPEAR and I’ve been meaning to learn more about electrical engineering by wiring together some interesting contraptions.

Another major interest: politics. There is nothing better than drafting the plans for an improved society.
